AI does not harvest vegetables, does not sort eggs and does not check whether the milk is still good. If someone tells you AI will double your turnover, walk away. What AI can do: take the office and shop admin off your hands that gets left behind between all the farm work. For a direct marketer that is often worth more than any big promise.

1. Seasonal and availability posts for social media

What is ripe right now, what is coming next week, when is the farm shop open? You write posts like these constantly and they cost time every time. Give an AI chatbot the keywords for what is going on — "first strawberries in, asparagus for one more week, farm shop open Fri/Sat" — and have it build a friendly post for Instagram or Facebook from that. You enter and check the quantities, dates and prices yourself. AI delivers the form, you deliver the facts.

2. Sign and notice texts

A sign for the self-service stand, a notice about new opening hours, a note on the egg vending box or a short board description of your range. These are texts that need to be short and clear — and that is exactly what is hard to manage in the middle of everything. AI gets you quickly to a clean draft that you only need to adjust. Mandatory details such as price, origin or allergens you enter yourself and check against the rules.

3. Usage and recipe tips for customers

Many customers no longer know parsnip, chard or kohlrabi and therefore do not buy them. A short tip on the shelf or in a post helps. Have AI give you ideas for how to prepare or store a vegetable and turn it into a short, inviting suggestion. Important: the tips are inspiration, not binding advice — questions about allergies or tolerance do not belong in a standard text.

4. Answer enquiry and customer emails

Enquiries about an order, questions about pick-up, a complaint or the email from the restaurant that wants to buy vegetables regularly — all polite and clear, without long pondering. You enter the key points, AI drafts a friendly reply in your tone. Especially with difficult emails it helps to have a draft made first and then smooth the tone, instead of typing under stress.

5. Reply to online reviews

Replying to Google reviews shows others that there are real people behind the farm shop — but who feels like coming up with replies in the evening? Enter the review and have a suitable response suggested. With criticism the rule is: stay factual, keep it short, no justifications. AI helps you hit exactly that tone instead of sounding snippy.

Honest limits:
  • AI does not replace professional advice or the freshness check at the counter. That stays your job.
  • No binding information on labelling, allergens, origin or hygiene — these duties you check and take responsibility for yourself under the applicable rules (e.g. food information law); for raw milk, eggs and meat special requirements apply.
  • AI does not assess food safety and cannot tell from a product whether it is still good.
  • It sometimes invents details. Read every text against the facts before it goes on display or goes out.
