AI for curtain shops — where it really saves time
You advise at the window, take measurements, sew made-to-measure curtains and fit rails. The writing for product texts, listings, service info and newsletters gets done in the evening. That is exactly where AI helps — not with measuring or fitting, but with the writing. Here is what actually works and what does not.
What this is not about
AI does not take a measurement, does not judge the drape at the window and does not fit a rail. If someone tells you AI replaces your tape measure and your on-site advice, walk away. What AI can do: take the office work off your hands that waits after closing time. For a curtain shop that is often worth more than any big promise.
1. Draft product and material texts
Which fabric, how opaque, how blackout, what care, what dimensions — you know the details or read them off the manufacturer. What eats time is turning that into a clean text for every model. Give an AI chatbot your keywords — "decorative panel, semi-sheer, crease-resistant, washable at 30 degrees, height 245 cm" — and have it build a clear product text from that. Always check the details on fabric, opacity, care and dimensions against the manufacturer data before you use them.
2. Write online listings and range texts
Whether your own shop or a marketplace: every listing wants a title and a description, every category a short framing — curtains, pleated blinds, roller and roman shades, rails, made-to-measure. You enter material, function and dimensions, AI brings that into a consistent, readable form. The facts and the price come from you — AI only fills the gaps between your details, it does not invent them.
3. Service info on measuring, made-to-measure and fitting
How does the on-site measuring work, what does made-to-measure cost, how long does fitting take — you often write these info texts for the website and shop window on the side. Give the AI the key points and have it build a clear process text: appointment, measuring at home, fabric selection, sewing, fitting. Prices and the actual measurements come from you — AI only frames it, it does not set any figures.
4. Newsletters and social about season, new arrivals and offers
A post about the new blackout collection, a newsletter for the summer season, a short offer for your regulars. Texts you often write on the side and that therefore get left undone. Give the AI the key points — what is new, what the offer brings, what is special — and have it draft something you only need to put into your tone.
5. Answer enquiries and reviews
"Do you measure at my home too?", "What does made-to-measure cost?", "When are you open again?" — polite, clear and without long deliberation. You enter the key points, AI drafts a friendly reply in your tone. For reviews: enter the review and have a suitable response suggested. With criticism stay factual, keep it short, no justifications. On top of that, standard texts — measuring process, care notes, opening hours — can be written cleanly once and then reused.
- AI does not replace measuring or fitting. Dimensions, drape and rail fitting have to be right on site — no AI text does that.
- AI does not replace material and style advice at the window. Which fabric suits the room, the light and the function you decide in conversation.
- AI claims about fabric, light transmission, care and dimensions can be wrong. Always check them against the manufacturer specs.
- Blanket care and washing tips can ruin fabrics (shrinking, fading). Only use what the manufacturer actually approves.
- Do not enter full customer data into free consumer tools — the GDPR applies to you too.
Which tools fit?
To start, a single chatbot is enough (ChatGPT or Claude). Anyone who wants to half-automate listings and enquiries should look at tools with EU hosting. You will find a sorted, honestly rated overview in our AI Tools Radar — there you can filter by use case instead of wading through advertising.

Frequently asked questions
- Is AI worth it for a curtain shop?
- Yes, if you have a lot of writing to do: product and material texts, online listings, service info, newsletters, enquiries. That is exactly where AI saves time. For on-site measuring, sewing and fitting it changes nothing.
- Can AI replace the measuring or the material advice?
- No. Measuring at the window, the drape, rail fitting and the material and style advice you do yourself on site, that stays your responsibility. AI only helps put your details into clean text.
- Can I have AI write product and service texts?
- The text part and the structure, yes. Fabric, opacity, care notes, dimensions and prices you have to enter and check yourself. AI does the wording, it does not measure or sew for you.
- Is my customer data safe with AI tools?
- Use tools with EU hosting or business plans with a data agreement. Do not enter full address or personal data into free consumer versions.
