AI for window fitters — where it really saves time
You take the measurements, fit windows and doors in PVC, wood or aluminium, seal and adjust them. The office work lands on your desk in the evening. That is exactly where AI helps — not on the job site, but with the writing. Here is what actually works and what does not.
What this is not about
AI does not take a measurement, does not fit a window and does not seal a joint to RAL installation standard. If someone tells you AI will double your turnover, walk away. What AI can do: take the office work off your hands that steals your evenings. For a window-fitting business that is often worth more than any big promise.
1. Write quotes and cost estimates faster
You know the dimensions, the profiles and the work steps. What eats time is putting it into clean wording. Give an AI chatbot the keywords for what is being done — "replace 4 PVC windows, double to triple glazing, old building, removal and disposal, RAL installation" — and have it build a clear quote text from that. You enter the measurements, prices and quantities yourself. The tool delivers the form, you deliver the numbers.
2. Answer enquiry and appointment emails
Enquiries about window replacement, rescheduled appointments, questions about the delivery time of the profiles — all polite, clear and without long pondering. You enter the key points, AI drafts a friendly reply in your tone. Especially with difficult emails (a complaint, a delay in the glass delivery) it helps to have a draft made first and then smooth the tone, instead of typing in anger.
3. Prepare material and grant info as text
Customers ask what the difference is between PVC, wood and aluminium, what triple glazing brings or whether a replacement is eligible for a grant. You know the answer, but typing it out fresh again and again costs time. Give AI your key data and have a clear explanatory text built that you copy into quotes or onto the website. Important: grant amounts and concrete figures you check against the current source, AI gives no binding assurance for that.
4. Before-and-after posts and reviews
A finished window replacement looks good — but who feels like writing a social media text about it in the evening? Briefly describe the project to AI and have a post text built for Instagram or Facebook. Same with Google reviews: enter the review and have a suitable response suggested. With criticism the rule is: stay factual, keep it short, no justifications. AI helps you hit exactly that tone instead of sounding snippy.
5. Maintenance reminders and website texts
Adjusting fittings, checking seals, setting windows before winter — a short reminder text to regulars brings in follow-up jobs. AI drafts such emails for you in minutes. Same with a description of your services for the website or a job ad for the new fitter: texts you rarely write and that therefore take ages. AI gets you quickly to a usable draft that you only need to adjust.
- AI does not replace on-site measuring. You take the measurements yourself, otherwise the window will not fit.
- It does not assess building physics with any guarantee — U-value, condensation and driving-rain tightness you check professionally yourself.
- It does not replace a proper installation or sealing. The RAL installation stays your job.
- It cannot give a binding assurance of grant eligibility. Check amounts and conditions against the current source.
- Do not type sensitive customer data into free tools — the GDPR applies to you too.
Which tools fit?
To start, a single chatbot is enough (ChatGPT or Claude). Anyone who wants to half-automate reviews and emails should look at tools with EU hosting. You will find a sorted, honestly rated overview in our AI Tools Radar — there you can filter by use case instead of wading through advertising.

Frequently asked questions
- Is AI worth it for a small window-fitting business?
- Yes, if you have a lot of office work: quotes, enquiry emails, review replies. That is exactly where AI saves time. For on-site measuring, installation and adjusting it changes nothing.
- Can AI take over the measuring and the U-value assessment for a window?
- No. On-site measuring and building-physics assessment such as U-value or condensation you do yourself, that is your responsibility. AI only puts your finished results into clear sentences.
- May AI tell me whether a window replacement is eligible for a grant?
- AI can prepare grant topics as text, but it cannot give a binding assurance of eligibility. What actually applies you check against the current source at the grant body.
- Is my customer data safe with AI tools?
- Use tools with EU hosting or business plans with a data agreement. Do not enter full address or personal data into free consumer versions.
