Making money with AI — 7 ways that really work in 2026
No hype, no course-selling gimmick. Seven concrete methods I've either tested myself or watched first-hand. With an honest read on effort and earnings.
1 Start an AI newsletter
Exactly what you're looking at here. A curated newsletter in a niche, written with AI support. Revenue comes from sponsoring, founding-member models and affiliate. Lowest barrier to entry, scalable model. Tools: beehiiv (free up to 2,500 subs) + Claude/ChatGPT + Make.com for automation.
Aban's verdict: my own path. It works, but it takes 3–6 months of patience before the first euro.
2 AI freelancing (copy, images, automation)
Companies are looking for people who can put AI tools to productive use — not coders, but practitioners. Prompt engineering, workflow automation (Make/n8n + AI APIs), AI-assisted content production. Platforms: Upwork, Fiverr, Malt (DACH). Best of all: direct outreach to SMEs that want to “do something with AI” but don't know how.
Aban's verdict: the fastest route to real money. The market is there, and in 2026 demand still clearly outstrips supply.
3 AI-generated books (KDP/Amazon)
Low-content books (journals, planners, trackers) with AI-generated interiors and metadata. Works especially well in niches with a clear need: recovery journals, sobriety trackers, beekeeping logs. Important: real niche research instead of generic “AI book in 1h” promises.
Aban's verdict: it works, but it needs volume (10+ books) and niche expertise. No quick money.
4 AI automation for local businesses
Local tradespeople, doctors and restaurants need simple AI automations: a WhatsApp chatbot for booking, automatic quote generation, email triage. Tools: Make.com, n8n, ChatGPT API. You build it once; the client pays a setup fee plus a monthly retainer for maintenance.
Aban's verdict: an underrated market. Most SMEs don't even know what's possible. Whoever can explain it, wins.
5 Faceless social media with AI content
TikTok, YouTube Shorts and Instagram Reels with AI-generated scripts, voiceovers (ElevenLabs) and B-roll. Revenue via creator funds, affiliate links and sponsoring. Works in niches like psychology, life hacks and money tips. No face of your own needed.
Aban's verdict: it works, but it's algorithm-dependent, and platform rules for AI content are tightening in 2026.
6 AI-assisted dropshipping optimisation
Write product copy with AI, optimise images, automate SEO metadata, manage reviews. Not a new business model, but AI makes existing shops more profitable. Tools: GPT-4 for copy, gpt-image for images, Judge.me for reviews, Claude for SEO.
Aban's verdict: not a standalone “AI money path”, but a massive lever for existing e-commerce shops.
7 AI consulting and workshops
Companies pay for someone who shows them how to use AI sensibly. No coding needed — prompt strategies, tool selection, workflow design. Audience: marketing teams, managing directors, agencies. Format: a half-day workshop, online or on site.
Aban's verdict: the highest hourly rate, but it needs credibility. Best to start with your own project (e.g. a newsletter), then market the expertise.
