Spot AI fraud & scams

Fraudsters use AI to look convincingly real: deepfake celebrities pushing "investments", cloned voices of relatives on the phone, flawless phishing mails. Here you'll learn the most common tricks and the rules that protect you. No prior knowledge needed.

๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ If in doubt: transfer nothing, give out no codes/passwords, hang up. If harmed, contact your bank immediately (payments are sometimes recoverable) and report it. This is general information, not legal advice.

The most common AI tricks

Deepfake celebrity "investments"

A video or "interview" where a famous person endorses a crypto or trading platform โ€” entirely AI-faked. Real wealthy people don't promote a platform through random ads.

Fake trading bots & "guaranteed returns"

"Our AI doubles your money." You deposit, see rising numbers โ€” and when you withdraw, excuses or "fees" appear. The money is gone.

Voice-clone calls

From a few seconds of audio, AI clones a voice. Suddenly "your child" or "your boss" calls, in trouble, needing money now. The voice sounds real โ€” the emergency is invented.

Perfect phishing

Phishing used to give itself away with clumsy language. AI now writes mails and builds fake sites flawlessly, in your dialect. Don't rely on "sounds off" anymore.

Romance & fake profiles

AI-generated photos and chatbots build trust over weeks โ€” until it's about money or a "joint investment". Here too: love doesn't ask for a transfer.

Fake support & "account locked"

Alleged bank/PayPal/Amazon staff under time pressure. Real providers don't call you to demand passwords, one-time codes or remote access.

The 7 safety rules

1. Pressure is warning sign #1

"Now", "today only", "or your account is gone" โ€” urgency is meant to switch off your thinking. That's exactly when to pause.

2. Verify via a second channel

Call the person/company back on the number you already know โ€” not the one in the call/mail. A real emergency survives that.

3. No legitimate party wants your secrets

Password, one-time code, PIN, recovery words, remote access: anyone who asks is scamming you. No exceptions.

4. "Guaranteed returns" don't exist

Every fixed profit promise is a trick. More in trading tips and crypto for beginners.

5. A celebrity endorsement isn't proof

Deepfakes are cheap and fast. A face or a voice proves nothing anymore.

6. Don't click links โ€” type the address

Instead of tapping the link in a mail/SMS, type the real address by hand or use your bookmark.

7. Never "pay" in crypto or gift cards

No authority or support wants payment in Bitcoin, gift cards or via an anonymous app. That's always a scam.

Quick check: how risky is the offer?

Tick what applies to the message, call or "investment". Everything runs in your browser โ€” nothing is stored or sent.

Nothing ticked yet.

Guidance, not a verdict. Even a single strong red flag can be enough to say no.

Common questions

Do celebrities like Elon Musk really endorse crypto platforms?

Almost never. Scammers use AI to create convincing deepfake videos and fake interviews where a celebrity supposedly endorses an "investment platform". The videos are fake, the platform is a scam. A real endorsement never comes via a random ad.

How do I spot a fake trading bot?

By the promise: guaranteed or fixed daily profits, "the AI beats the market", small deposit for big returns. That doesn't exist. The moment you try to withdraw, excuses or "fees" appear. Stay away.

What should I do if I fell for an AI scam?

Stop all payments immediately, contact your bank (payments are sometimes recoverable), change affected passwords and report it to the police. Don't be ashamed โ€” these fakes are extremely well made. This is not legal advice.
