How accurate is the estimate?
An estimate — rule of thumb ~4 chars/token (English), a bit more otherwise. Models differ slightly. For exact numbers there are official tokenizers. For budgeting it's enough.
Why enter the price myself?
Because model prices change and differ by provider/currency. With your price the maths is always right.
Is my text sent anywhere?
